Former President Donald Trump issued a warning to Virginia voters about Rep. Bob Good, saying that he would betray and undermine them just like he did to the president. This disagreement between Trump and Good, who leads the House Freedom Caucus, escalated when Trump reiterated his support for Good’s primary opponent, Virginia legislator John McGuire, in a recent campaign video.
McGuire, expressing gratitude for Trump’s continued endorsement, emphasized that Good is not trustworthy. However, despite Trump’s escalating antagonism, Good has not retaliated against the former president and has focused on his own campaign. Good asserted that he has the support of elected officials and GOP committee leaders across the district, while McGregor relies on outside endorsements due to lack of local support.

The conflict began when Good initially endorsed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president and subsequently shifted his support to Trump when DeSantis left the race. Trump’s endorsement of McGuire came after Good and McGuire showed solidarity with him during his trial in New York, leading the Trump legal team to demand that Good stop using Trump’s name and likeness on their campaign materials.
Good’s decision to vote against former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has also garnered disapproval from figures such as the ex-speaker and other congressmen who have thrown their support behind McGuire. Despite Good’s confidence in winning the primary, he did not speculate on whether Trump would regret not endorsing him.
