Al Sharpton Rewrites History, Misuses Founding Fathers in Anti-Trump Tirade

The social media platform X has once again proven itself a treasure trove of absurdity from the left, particularly thanks to the never-shy Al Sharpton. While some may hold out hope that the leftists running around quoting the Founding Fathers could get at least some facts straight, Sharpton provides a comically spectacular example of how not to interpret history. Recently, he chimed in on the Capitol incident of January 6, 2021, claiming that it’s unimaginable to think James Madison or Thomas Jefferson could ever have tried to overthrow their own government. One wonders what history lessons Sharpton skipped over in school.

It seems the good reverend has collectively forgotten that both Madison and Jefferson were indeed revolutionaries who basically made a career out of overthrowing a government that, at the time, appeared far more tyrannical than anything post-Trump could ever dream up. Jefferson not only penned the Declaration of Independence but also served as Virginia’s wartime governor, bravely leading during a British invasion. Madison sat on both the Virginia Council of State and the Continental Congress. These two gentlemen stood to lose it all, yet they courageously went ahead with their little coup d’état against British rule. Something tells us Sharpton either missed that seminar or didn’t take notes.

Sharpton’s hilariously misguided rhetoric seems to serve a purpose in his ongoing quest to link anything and everything to former President Donald Trump. This tactic of conflating historical figures like Madison and Jefferson with a modern political narrative that critiques Trump reveals an increasingly desperate attempt to rewrite history. He desperately tries to paint the Capitol incursion as some sort of constitutional crisis while the only thing spiraling out of control are his grasp on historical facts and his media credibility.

For added comic relief, Sharpton is noteworthy for accepting a cool half a million from Kamala Harris’ 2024 campaign and then giving her a nice soft ball interview that would make even a kindergarten teacher cringe. The irony of Sharpton, a man who has made a living stoking racial tensions, employing the Founding Fathers as his rhetorical puppets for the establishment agenda is thick enough to cut with a knife. Establishment types love to twist American history into pretzels if it serves their agenda and discredits discourse that doesn’t align with their views.

Unfortunately for the left, social media users aren’t just taking this nonsense lying down. They’ve united like never before, serving as a fact-checking army ready to dismantle absurd assertions from the likes of Sharpton. This same sentiment has sparked lively debates surrounding the role of the judiciary, particularly when it comes to landmark rulings such as Marbury v. Madison. Such discussions could help restore a vision of limited government that aligns more with what the Founding Fathers genuinely wanted rather than a judicial edict that oversteps constitutional boundaries.

At the end of the day, one must tip their hat to Sharpton for inadvertently reminding Americans of the true principles of the founding documents. His hilariously misguided comments serve not just as a cautionary tale for those trying to use historical knowledge as a weapon, but also as a motivation for citizens to look back at the Constitution’s original vision. If the left continues to misremember history, perhaps the right can capitalize on this opportunity to educate a broader audience on the true intentions behind the founding documents, reminding everyone that the spirit of revolution is alive and well.
