Two private companies are taking charge to propel the United States back into the intergalactic spotlight. With a boost from NASA, these companies are determined to revive the commercial moon delivery initiative while the space agency sets its sights on returning astronauts to the lunar surface.
NASA Administrator Bill Nelson likened these missions to being the trailblazers for future human exploration, scouting out the moon before we make our triumphant return.
Pittsburgh’s Astrobotic Technology is spearheading the charge with the Peregrine lander, set to embark on its lunar journey aboard the powerful United Launch Alliance’s Vulcan rocket. The mission marks a significant milestone as it represents one of the first commercial ventures to reach the moon and one of the initial American spacecraft to touch down on the lunar surface since the unforgettable Apollo era.
Houston’s Intuitive Machines is also gearing up to launch its own lunar lander in February, hitching a ride with none other than SpaceX.
The United States hasn’t attempted a moon landing since 1972, when the brave souls of Apollo 17 took their historic steps on the lunar terrain. But now, with these new missions, it’s time for a revival of American ingenuity and exploration.
As the countdown to the launch begins, the CEOs of these companies are oozing with enthusiasm.
