Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has once again taken her love of drama to new heights — or should that be new lows? The congresswoman from New York, who might as well have a permanent seat on the “Critique Israel” train, recently went off the rails by labeling Israel’s recent actions against Hezbollah as a war crime. Naturally, this incendiary statement set off alarm bells for anyone with a functioning brain, including NewsNation anchor Chris Cuomo, who weighed in with his typical blend of sarcasm and disbelief.
In a spectacular display of selective outrage, AOC responded to Israel’s devastating electronic detonation of terrorists’ pagers by calling for international prosecution. Apparently, in her warped understanding of international law, detonating devices in the hands of terrorists plotting against civilians is a crime worth the Hague. Cuomo, laying it out for anyone who might still be confused, heavily criticized her remarks, pointing out that American laws do not bind Israel, nor should they be. The whole spectacle raises questions about whether AOC actually believes her rhetoric or if she’s fishing for attention — either way, it’s a tragic blend of ignorance and hubris.

Cuomo dived deeper, dissecting AOC’s claims with a surgical precision that’s surprising coming from a mainstream media personality. He pointed out her failure to mention critical parts of the Department of Defense manual. For instance, she overlooked the part that clarifies the use of explosives is permissible under certain conditions, especially when it involves stopping the advance of a terrorist group. It’s remarkable how selective these lawmakers can be when it comes to facts that don’t fit their narratives. Perhaps she missed class the day they discussed reading comprehension.
The irony of AOC’s protestations doesn’t stop there. While she advocates for the rights of Hezbollah fighters, she seems suspiciously mute regarding the threats against conservative figures, including assassination attempts against former President Trump and the alarming statements directed at Rep. Anna Paulina Luna.
