In a classic case of progressive outrage, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the self-proclaimed queen of all things liberal, has taken issue with the Biden administration’s decision to allow the construction of the border wall in Texas. It seems that AOC is under the impression that the Biden administration should be beholden to her radical agenda and should have magically halted all wall construction.
But let’s get one thing straight here, folks. The Biden administration made the wise decision to waive several environmental laws in order to expedite the building of the wall. And you know what? They were well within their rights to do so. The President needs to be applauded for taking responsibility and moving forward with a decision that will help secure our border and protect American citizens.
But of course, AOC couldn’t resist the opportunity to play the blame game. She seems to think that President Biden should reverse course and abandon the construction of the wall altogether. Well, let me tell you something, AOC. Walls work. They serve as a deterrent to illegal immigration and help keep our country safe. It’s simple common sense.
And it’s not just AOC who’s throwing a tantrum. Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke, who failed miserably in his bid for president, and Democrat Rep. Maxwell Frost of Florida, are also voicing their complaints. Oh, and let’s not forget the ACLU chiming in. Because nothing says “border security” like taking advice from an organization that seems to care more about the rights of criminals than the safety of American citizens.

And then there’s Mexico President Andres Manuel López Obrador, who is calling the plan a “setback.” Well, excuse me if I don’t take advice from a leader of a country that has done little to stop the flow of illegal immigrants across our border. Maybe if Mexico did its part, we wouldn’t need a wall in the first place.
But let’s give credit where credit is due. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has made it abundantly clear that a border wall is not the solution. And he’s right. It’s not the ONLY solution. It’s just one piece of a larger puzzle that includes increased border security, law enforcement cooperation, and a revamped immigration system.
So, while the progressive left continues to throw temper tantrums and ignore the reality of the situation, the Biden administration is taking a proactive approach to securing our border. And for that, they should be commended. Walls work, folks. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
