The Left is in shambles as a hilarious Twitter account mocking Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gains more than 200,000 hilarious followers. The account, called “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Press Release (parody)” with the handle @AOCPress, is a satirical take on the New York socialist’s behavior and policies that comes with non-stop hilarity. The liberal media is triggered by the fact that the account is verified and has brought attention to the absurdity of their politics. Even NBC News was forced to devote an article to this account due to its large following.
NEW: AOC lashes out against the AOC Twitter parody account, worries that people think it’s actually her.
The sad reality is that AOC’s account is indistinguishable from parody 😂https://t.co/kOZB9qhlAa

It is no surprise that Elon Musk played a significant role in the account’s success. Twitter reinstated the parody account in May, and since then, some of the new policies, including Musk’s leadership, have amplified its reach. Twitter has gone as far as to rank the account first in the search results for “AOC,” above Ocasio-Cortez’s official account.
FYI there’s a fake account on here impersonating me and going viral. The Twitter CEO has engaged it, boosting visibility.
It is releasing false policy statements and gaining spread.
I am assessing with my team how to move forward. In the meantime, be careful of what you see.

Someone is mocking a Democrat on Twitter — and NBC News is on it
Does this qualify as “news”? It certainly does for the Protection Racket Media. NBC assigned two reporters to this?https://t.co/Nu3wKiVsVJ

The parody account has existed since November 2018, but Jack Dorsey’s leadership led to a permanent suspension for the account due to its “misleading” parody content. Nevertheless, under Musk’s new leadership, the account was reinstated and allowed to reach new heights.
The account’s popularity peaked after Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez expressed displeasure concerning the parody account spreading false policy statements. Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, “FYI there’s a fake account on here impersonating me and going viral,” creating an open forum to share the account with more people.
The individual behind the account, Michael Morrison, identified himself as a member of the New York Young Republicans Club. Morrison’s personal account alongside the parody account was both permanently suspended in May 2019. However, Morrison’s account was restored in November 2022 under Musk’s new leadership, while the parody account was not restored until May 2023, much to the delight of the account’s followers.
AOCpress is just a fun account, and people tend to agree with that. But, unsurprisingly, it drew the attention of the mainstream media, with NBC News dedicating not one but two reporters to cover the account’s rise to fame.
