AOC’s Fantasy World Costs NYC Big Time: Affordability Crisis Spirals Out Of Control

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, known as AOC, is once again being called out for her out-of-touch policies. In a scathing editorial by the New York Post’s editorial board, AOC is blamed for the unaffordability crisis plaguing New York City. And let’s be honest, if there’s anyone who knows about being out of touch, it’s AOC.

During a recent town hall, AOC had the audacity to suggest that taxing the rich would solve all of New York’s problems. But the Post’s editorial board wasn’t buying it. They pointed out the obvious flaw in her plan – the rich are already fleeing the state because of high taxes. It’s the working class, the backbone of this city, who can no longer afford to live here.

According to the 2020 census data, over 300,000 residents permanently left New York between 2020 and 2021, resulting in a staggering $21 billion loss in income. And where did most of them come from? Manhattan, where the average income of the departed was a whopping $214,000. These are the hardworking individuals who are being driven out of the city because of AOC’s misguided policies.

But AOC doesn’t want to take responsibility for the exodus of wealth from New York. She conveniently blames budget cuts on immigration policies. It’s like she’s living in a fantasy world where facts don’t matter. The truth is, New York’s budget cuts are a direct result of Democrats’ excessive spending on accommodating migrants. AOC and her comrades demand we admit an infinite number of migrants and provide them with endless support, all at the cost of over $12 billion through 2025. But hey, who needs a balanced budget when you have open borders, right?

Housing is another issue where AOC’s fingerprints are all over the mess. The Post’s editorial board highlights how the city’s Democratic leadership has blocked housing reforms that could have increased housing production. From blocking tax breaks for developers to passing laws that take thousands of units off the market, AOC and her cohorts have done everything possible to reduce the availability of affordable housing. The result? Only 11,000 new units are expected to be built this year, compared to double that number in 2022. Thanks for nothing, AOC.

And let’s not forget about AOC’s obsession with green policies. While she may get a gold star from her liberal friends for saving the environment, New Yorkers are paying the price. Energy prices are soaring thanks to AOC’s misguided green agenda. It’s becoming increasingly unaffordable for ordinary citizens to heat their homes and power their businesses. But who needs electricity when you can have renewable energy, right?

In conclusion, AOC and her fellow leftists are completely out of touch with the needs and interests of the people they claim to represent. Their radical ideology is driving New York City into the ground. If we continue down this progressive path, the city will only become more unaffordable, and the exodus will accelerate. It’s time for AOC to look in the mirror and take responsibility for the mess she’s created.
