In a shocking interview on CNN’s “OutFront,” Rolando Salinas, the mayor of Eagle Pass, Texas, spoke out against President Joe Biden and his administration, accusing them of abandoning his city. Salinas boldly stated that he hadn’t received any communication from the administration, including the President himself or Vice President Kamala Harris. Not a single word of concern or a plan of action had been relayed to the mayor or his city’s staff. It’s a blatant disregard for the well-being of a border town that is struggling under the weight of illegal immigration.

Eagle Pass is just one of many border towns left to fend for themselves as thousands of illegal immigrants pour over the border, taking advantage of President Biden’s insane immigration policy. It’s a policy that is failing the American people and leaving local communities to face the consequences. Thankfully, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has stepped up to provide resources and relief, but it shouldn’t be solely his responsibility.
Salinas expressed his gratitude towards Governor Abbott and the state agencies, such as DPS and Border Patrol, for their assistance in controlling the situation. However, he couldn’t help but emphasize the need for immigration reform and a solution to prevent such dire circumstances. It’s disheartening to see a city mayor pleading for help and expressing confusion as to why things have come to this point.
But the reality is clear. The Biden administration’s deliberate actions have led south Texas into this terrible situation. An anonymous source from within the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency revealed that the administration had instructed the agency to process and release a staggering number of migrants crossing the border near Eagle Pass. This directive was given without any guidance or support, leaving the border patrol scrambling to manage the influx.
These thoughtless decisions have only exacerbated an already dire situation. Once single adults started to be released, word spread quickly, resulting in an even larger influx of migrants. The lack of consequences or deportation for those crossing the border has roused the appetites of thousands more who see no deterrent in their pursuit of entering the United States illegally. Towns like Eagle Pass are on the precipice of being overwhelmed by migrants, outnumbering their own citizens.
To make matters worse, Mexico has done nothing to stop the flood of illegal immigration. Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has even demanded that President Biden further facilitate migration across the southern border. It’s a slap in the face to the American people who already bear the burden of this crisis.
President Biden’s reckless and dangerous immigration policies have brought us to this point. Communities along the border are paying the price for his failure to maintain a secure border. It’s time for the President to take responsibility and put an end to this chaos. The American people deserve better.
