Biden and Xi’s Secret Deal: Fentanyl to AI, Inside the Talk!

In a recent pow-wow between President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the two leaders supposedly struck a deal regarding fentanyl, military communications, and several other issues. According to a snazzy senior administration official, Xi has vowed to crack down on companies contributing to the production of fentanyl. They claim that these measures will significantly dwindle the supply of the dangerous drug.

On top of that, the leaders apparently chewed the fat about military discussions, Taiwan, Iran, artificial intelligence, and climate change. The bit about artificial intelligence seems more like a casual chit chat than an actual agreement, with the administration official downplaying it as “early stage mechanisms.”

Biden also used the opportunity to air some of the good ol’ U.S. grievances, yapping about Ukraine, the Middle East, and Iran. The official reported that President Xi seemed a bit miffed about some alleged U.S. reports on Chinese military plans, denying any such intentions. Before the meeting, the two leaders exchanged what looked like friendly pleasantries but apparently had serious stuff on their minds.

Biden blabbered about the importance of clarity and mutual understanding between them. Xi, through a translator, essentially said, “Hey, we’re not that naive. We know you want to be less dependent on us.”

But let’s cut to the chase here, folks. These two leaders had a whole lot to chirp about, and while they might’ve patted each other on the back, it’s hard to know for sure how firm their handshake really was in the grand scheme of things.
