The Washington Post reports that the nearly 2.2 million federal workers will benefit from this fancy raise, which is a whole 0.6 percentage points higher than last year’s already sky-high increase.It’s all set to kick in at the start of 2024. Meanwhile, regular folks in the private sector, who are the ones footing the bill for this lavish raise, are dealing with eye-popping inflation, sky-high interest rates, and over two years of shrinking real wages. It’s a tough pill to swallow for hardworking taxpayers who are feeling the squeeze of “Bidenomics.”
Despite all the talk in Congress about the damage caused by inflation and Biden’s spending sprees, no one, not even the GOP, thought to put the brakes on Biden’s plan to boost federal pay. The Republicans, who have been making noise about inflation and spending, have been strangely silent on this issue. It’s a head-scratcher, to say the least. Congress usually has the power to adjust the president’s proposal for federal pay, but this time around, everyone seems to be giving Biden a free pass.
But it’s not just federal civilians who are cashing in. U.S. service members and military employees are also lined up for a nice, juicy increase in January. It seems like while ordinary Americans struggle, the government workers are raking it in. It’s a tough pill to swallow for hardworking folks who are feeling the pinch of “Bidenomics.”
