Secretary of State Antony Blinken has found himself in a bit of a pickle, as he has been left stranded in Zurich, Switzerland. Blinken, who was attending the World Economic Forum, was all set to fly back to the good ol’ U.S. of A. But unfortunately, fate had other plans.
According to Bloomberg, Blinken was scheduled to travel back on a modified Boeing Co. 737. However, much to his dismay, the flight was cancelled due to an oxygen leak. It’s not every day you hear about an oxygen leak, but hey, at least it wasn’t snakes on the plane, right?

In a valiant effort to rescue Blinken from his stranded state, a smaller aircraft was sent to collect him. But it seems that Blinken’s entourage wasn’t so lucky. Many of his staff were forced to take commercial flights back home. Talk about a downgrade!
This whole debacle doesn’t bode well for Boeing, who has been facing its fair share of technical and safety issues lately. Just last week, all their Boeing 737 Max 9 jetliners were grounded after a door plug decided to blow off in the middle of a flight. Yikes!
As if the aircraft issues weren’t embarrassing enough, Blinken’s speech at the World Economic Forum added more fuel to the fire. He blamed climate change and conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East for causing mass migration and food shortages. Well, Blinken, maybe next time you should try blaming the actual oxygen leak for your current predicament.
All in all, it’s safe to say that air travel might be feeling a bit sketchy these days. So, hold onto your seats, folks, and let’s hope we don’t see any more door plugs flying off or oxygen leaks on our future flights.
