Biden Prioritizes Ukraine for Defense Systems, Sidelines Paying Allies

In a move that can only be described as another classic Biden administration blunder, the White House has prioritized sending air defense systems to Ukraine over other allies who have put cash on the barrelhead for these systems. Talk about taking care of your own.

The National Security Council spokesman eagerly announced that Ukraine would be receiving Patriot and National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems much sooner than anticipated because Russia has been aggressive. But when hasn’t Russia been aggressive? And why is Ukraine the only one allowed to cut in line for these defense systems?

Biden is appeasing Ukrainian leaders who have been vocal about needing more military aid. While Kirby calls this an “extraordinary step,” many see it as another poorly thought-out decision, leaving other nations stranded. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian president took to social media to shower Biden with gratitude because you don’t look like a gift horse in the mouth.

Ukraine is expected to start receiving these shiny new toys this summer, just in time to bolster their defenses and probably add a few stars next to Biden’s name in some Ukrainian history books. The goal? Keep them going for the next 16 months at the cost of potentially weakening America’s other defense commitments.

Of course, there’s a catch. Allies who had already purchased these systems are left out in the cold, twiddling their thumbs until the U.S. fulfills its obligations. They’re described as having a “broad understanding” of this decision, which sounds a lot like a diplomatic spin for “not thrilled but can’t do much about it.” Kirby conveniently left out which countries are affected, although it’s known that Switzerland is among them.

And let’s not forget, while Biden plays favorites with Ukraine, rogue states like North Korea are jumping into bed with Russia. This week saw a cozy meeting between Putin and Kim Jong Un, where the latter promised to supply the Kremlin with more artillery shells and ballistic missiles. While Biden is busy trying to play a superhero in Ukraine, the villains are allying their own. While Biden is busy putting out fires abroad, he’s inadvertently fanning the flames of global instability.
