The news from the Big Easy and Sin City has been nothing short of chaotic, and President Joe Biden is doing his best to navigate this turbulent sea of terror and confusion. The latest reports confirm that there is currently no evidence linking the shocking New Year’s Day terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans with the truck explosion outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. Biden, seemingly relieved to report the lack of correlation, gathered his national security team for an impromptu episode of “Who Wants to Find a Terroist?”
On the tragic front, the New Orleans attack resulted in 15 deaths and left 35 individuals injured, with investigators labeling the perpetrator a U.S. Army veteran who was flying solo on this destructive mission. In what could be described as an ironic twist of fate, this same attacker had the audacity to promote radical Islamic ideologies on social media before unleashing chaos. The FBI is hot on the heels of potential accomplices, but Biden might want to remind them that just because someone yelled “Allahu Akbar” doesn’t mean they had friends.
While the White House attempts to untangle the mess, some might see the president’s assurances about investigating connections as an effort to keep up appearances. Despite the Sunday morning quarterbacking, investigators are still standing by their claim that the suspect acted alone. If competition for “most nonsensical plot twist” was a job, Biden is clearly a top contender in an industry known for its wacky scripts. It was indicated that the assailant was behind the hidden explosives in ice coolers, displaying a flair for dramatic flair. Perhaps the mastermind thought he was auditioning for the next big action flick?

Biden has been on the defensive, however, repeatedly claiming that his administration is committed to leaving no stone unturned in the investigations. After all, the man has to seem tough on terror for once. His insistence on coordinating with his team to explore possible ties to domestic and foreign threats certainly sounds noble. But when the mastermind is a lone veteran deeply engulfed in delusions, it raises questions about the actual feasibility of the president’s so-called relentless pursuit of terror networks.
In an ironic twist that could only be delivered by a Democratic administration, Biden took time to celebrate his latest judicial victory—not in curtailing terrorism, but in confirming his 235th federal judge. As the people of New Orleans rally against fear and reaffirm their resilience, one might find solace in the fact that the ideological ambition of ISIS still gets to be exiled from the neighborhoods without interference from the federal judiciary. At least, for now, it seems the true terror lies in what might happen the next time Biden feels the urge to celebrate a highly questionable achievement in the midst of chaos.
