In yet another display of national embarrassment, President Joe Biden’s administration continues to go from bad to worse. While the establishment media may have tried to portray Biden’s performance at last week’s summit in San Francisco as that of a tough-talking leader, House Republican Speaker Mike Johnson had a more realistic view. According to Johnson, Biden is actually “projecting weakness,” and it’s not just his lowlights at the summit that prove it.
Biden wracked up major losses in his meeting with Chinese President Xi.

During the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, Biden stumbled and bumbled his way through speeches, even appearing to lose his place during a photo op. It was hardly a performance that made Americans proud. Johnson, who was busy negotiating a deal in Washington, D.C., to avoid a government shutdown, didn’t closely follow the summit, but believes that Biden’s problem is much more fundamental.
As Johnson points out, projecting weakness on the world stage invites aggression. In a dangerous time when China, Iran, Russia, and other adversaries are becoming increasingly provocative, it is crucial for the United States to maintain peace through strength. President Reagan understood this, and his words still hold true today.
Unfortunately, it’s not just Biden’s physical and mental weakness that are cause for concern. It’s also the policies being implemented by an administration beholden to the far-left wing of the Democratic Party. These policies, such as the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, inviting the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and appeasing Islamist supremacists in Tehran, are projecting weakness for the entire country.
The latest example of this weakness came last week when Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping discussed various issues, including deadly fentanyl and the use of artificial intelligence in the military. However, Biden received little in return and squandered his leverage over China. The agreed-upon deal to triple global renewable energy capacity by 2030 might sound appealing to liberals, but it should worry Americans who care about their country’s security and economy.
Not only does the deal hurt the United States by limiting the use of its own fossil fuels, but it also benefits China, which dominates the “green” energy market. This means that China, not America, will reap the rewards of the transition to renewable energy. By ensuring a customer and purchasing decades worth of Chinese products, Biden has essentially guaranteed China’s wealth while sacrificing America’s interests.
Energy sector specialists have already voiced their concerns about the deal. Daniel Turner, CEO of Power the Future, believes it is a recipe for disaster for American consumers. Jason Isaac, CEO of The American Energy Institute, sees it as an example of “China first, America last.” Marlo Lewis of the American Enterprise Institute warns that the agreement will lead to centralized planning, production quotas, and groupthink – all hallmarks of the Soviet Union, the loser of the Cold War.
Since taking office, Biden has made a series of military and diplomatic decisions that have weakened the United States abroad. His economic policies, which he dubs “Bidenomics,” are further eroding the country’s industrial base and the value of the dollar. It’s not just weakness projected to the world, but also into the very fabric of the nation.
Unless voters choose to change course in 2024, Biden will continue projecting weakness far into the future. The question is, will the American people allow this national embarrassment to persist? Do you believe that Biden’s policies are hurting America?
