Biden Sets New Record for Citizenship Grants Amidst Immigration Policy Concerns

The Biden administration continues to set records, but not the kind that most Americans would celebrate. In an exhilarating burst of bureaucratic activity over less than four years, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have ushered in astronomical levels of both legal and illegal immigration. While some may point to the numbers as a sign of progress, many conservative Americans see a stark reminder of a chaotic border policy that appears to put foreign interests before American citizens.

The Migration Policy Institute recently highlighted that from Fiscal Year 2021 through Fiscal Year 2024, nearly 3.5 million legal immigrants have been awarded American citizenship under this administration. This astonishing figure represents the most naturalizations recorded in any single presidential term. To put this into perspective, more individuals have been granted citizenship in just a few short years than under entire terms of past presidents like Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush combined. The question lingers: Is this really a record to be proud of, or is it a testament to a broken system that has been hijacked by leftist policies?

It’s worth noting that while President Biden is cheering his record-breaking naturalizations, the only predecessor even remotely close to this milestone is George W. Bush, specifically during his second term. This leaves quite a gap, suggesting that, while some might applaud the increased pace of citizenship grants, it is part and parcel of a larger immigration strategy that many conservatives find troubling. Increased citizenship doesn’t equate to better immigration policies; rather, it raises serious concerns about border security and control.

An analysis reveals that the swell of naturalizations stems from the Biden administration’s concerted effort to chop down application wait times. Those advocating for rapid immigration processing might believe they’re making the system more efficient, but many critics see these moves as fast-tracking potential issues related to security and integration. The median processing time for naturalization applications dwindled from a hefty 11.5 months to five months during Biden’s term, which begs the question: What corners are being cut when it comes to vetting applicants?

To add insult to injury, the administration also oversaw the admission of a staggering 4.3 million legal immigrant green card-holders and supplied a record 1.1 million student visas in just the last academic year. Together with record-breaking levels of illegal immigration, these figures have propelled the foreign-born population in the U.S. to a whopping 52 million—the highest it has ever been. With the country facing numerous economic and social challenges, many Americans are left wondering how these policies will ultimately impact their communities and way of life.

In sum, while the Biden administration may be popping champagne for their ostentatious immigration records, conservatives are raising eyebrows, skeptical about what this truly means for the future of America. With such high numbers of immigrants pouring into the country, the jury is still out on whether this is a reflection of progress or simply a recipe for disaster. The road ahead is murky, and many are bracing for the consequences of these extraordinary policies.
