The rumors are swirling in the Democratic Party as President Joe Biden’s health concerns become more apparent. The Washington Post has reported that several Democrats are voicing their concerns over Biden’s declining physical and mental health, stating that death could be “imminent” for someone of his age.

It’s not surprising that voters are worried, especially considering that Biden will be 81 years old in November. As one Democratic Party leader in Ohio put it, “We are all on a ticking clock. But when you’re at his age, or Trump’s age, that clock is ticking a little faster, and that’s a concern for voters.” It’s clear that these concerns are not unfounded, as Biden has recently made some embarrassing mistakes that can only be blamed on his age and health.
During a private fundraising event in New York, he repeated the same story twice within minutes. And let’s not forget the time he nearly knocked down the Brazilian flag while speaking to the country’s president. It’s becoming more evident that Biden is not fit for the presidency, and these incidents are only adding fuel to the fire. Democrats are secretly worried about a “nightmare scenario” where Biden secures the nomination but has to drop out of the race due to health problems.
This would be a huge blow to the party and could potentially lead to their downfall in the 2024 election. To make matters worse, a recent Associated Press poll revealed that a staggering 77 percent of voters believe Biden is too old to serve another four years. Even within his own party, 69 percent of Democrats share the same sentiment. Democratic strategist James Carville understands the impact these fears can have on voter turnout, saying, “The voters don’t want this, and that’s in poll after poll after poll.”
It’s clear that the American people are looking for a candidate with better health and stamina. Congressman Dean Phillips of Minnesota has echoed these sentiments, stating that there are other candidates who have a better chance of winning and don’t come with the actuarial risk that Biden does. And he’s not alone; a CNN poll found that two-thirds of Democratic voters want an alternative to Biden. It’s clear that the American people are losing faith in the president’s ability to serve effectively. With only a quarter of Americans believing that Biden has the necessary stamina and sharpness, it’s becoming increasingly evident that a change is needed. The Democratic Party must face the truth and find a candidate who can lead them to victory in 2024.
