On Thursday, President Joe Biden tripped and fell during the U.S. Air Force Academy graduation, bringing into question his physical and cognitive abilities. The incident, caught on camera, showed the embarrassed president being helped up by several Secret Service members. After the fall, Biden was seen pointing to the sandbags on the stage where he seemed to have lost his footing.

Conservative critics quickly took to social media to express their concerns over Biden’s health. Outkick commentator Clay Travis called the incident “elder abuse” and asked why the president was not being better protected. Another Twitter user said, “I wish we could just let this man retire and spend time with his grandkids.” ACT for America founder and chairman Brigitte Gabriel even called for the invocation of the 25th Amendment, citing the president’s apparent incapacity to perform his duties.

Despite the fall, White House communications director Ben LaBolt tweeted that the president was “fine” and claimed that it was due to the sandbag. However, with Biden previously falling off his bike in Delaware last year, doubts about his physical abilities are starting to linger.
Before the fall, Biden managed to deliver a graduation speech, where he advised the graduates to choose “service over self.” It is unclear if and how the fall affected his speech or if it was due to Biden’s cognitive state. As President Biden continues to make public appearances, concerns about his fitness for office will continue to linger.
