In the classic 1990 film, Home Alone, little Kevin McCallister dashed to the store to pick up some essentials like milk, bread, toilet paper, and a whole bunch of other goodies. The total tab for his shopping spree? A measly $19.83. Cut to present day, and a TikTok user replicated that shopping list at Kroger, but the grand total left her reeling at $44.40. But wait, there’s more! A reporter from NewsNation tried the same experiment at a Chicago grocery store, and the bill rang up to a jaw-dropping $72.28. Ouch, that’s a hard hit to the wallet.
And it doesn’t stop there, folks. Economists are sounding the alarm, predicting that food prices will keep climbing as the holidays approach. The Consumer Price Index has shown a 0.7 percent increase in food prices from August to September, and a whopping 11.2 percent surge compared to last year. The United States Department of Agriculture even chimed in, forecasting a 3 to 4 percent rise in food prices for the year. Can you say “ouch” again?
But let’s not beat around the bush here, folks. We all know who’s responsible for this mess. It’s none other than good ol’ Bidenflation, wreaking havoc on hardworking American families.
