The Biden administration’s economic policies, now dubbed “Bidenomics,” are causing Americans to feel the pinch this Thanksgiving. The cost of Thanksgiving dinners will increase by 25 percent compared to pre-COVID times and before Biden took office. Although there has been a 4.5 percent decrease from last year, this will still be the second-most expensive turkey day meal on record.

According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, certain items have seen significant price increases. Pumpkin pie mix and dinner rolls saw the largest percent increase at 3.8% and 3.0% respectively. However, there is some good news as whipping cream and fresh cranberries actually decreased in price by 22.8% and 18.3% respectively.
The region where Americans do their Thanksgiving shopping can also impact the total cost. Those in the Midwest will have the smallest bill at $58.86, while those in the Northeast will see the largest cost at $64.38. The South and the West fall in between with costs of $59.10 and $63.89 respectively.
Comparing these prices to pre-Biden times in 2019, the increase is significant. Despite a slight decrease from last year, food price inflation remains a concern for American consumers. It is essential to recognize the hard work of farmers and ranchers who provide the nation with a safe and affordable food supply.
