President Joe Biden’s administration has once again shown its reckless spending habits by approving $2.5 billion in tax-exempt bonds for a high-speed rail line. Can you believe it? While hardworking Americans are struggling to make ends meet, the Biden-Harris administration is throwing away billions of dollars on pet projects.
The lucky recipient of these bonds is Brightline West, a company that wants to build a rail line connecting Los Angeles and Las Vegas. And who is singing the project’s praises? None other than Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. He claims that this project will create jobs and connect American cities. But let’s be real here, folks. This is just another example of the Biden administration’s obsession with big government and wasteful spending.
But wait, there’s more! Just a month and a half ago, the Biden administration handed over $3.07 billion for the California Inaugural High-Speed Rail Service Project. And who’s celebrating? California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, of course. He sees it as a “vote of confidence” in his vision. Well, Newsom’s vision seems to involve spending money like there’s no tomorrow and ignoring the fact that the project is years behind schedule and over budget.
Thankfully, not everyone is fooled by this nonsense. California Republican Rep. Doug LaMalfa is speaking out against this wasteful spending. He rightly points out that this so-called “high-speed” train is anything but. It’s already over a decade late and the cost has ballooned to four times the original estimate. LaMalfa calls it a boondoggle, and he’s absolutely right.
But the Biden administration and Governor Newsom don’t seem to care. They think they can just keep throwing taxpayer dollars at this project without any accountability. Well, enough is enough. It’s time to cut our losses and put an end to this foolishness. We can’t afford to waste any more money on a project that will likely never be completed.
The real tragedy here is that while Biden and Newsom are busy wasting taxpayer dollars on their pet projects, our country is drowning in debt. The state of California is already $68 billion in the red, yet they continue to prioritize this rail line over the needs of their citizens. It’s a disgrace.
So, let’s call it what it is: a massive waste of taxpayer money. Biden and Newsom may think they’re being progressive, but all they’re really doing is burdening future generations with crippling debt. It’s time to put an end to their reckless spending and focus on the issues that truly matter to the American people.
