In yet another example of the Biden administration’s colossal failure to secure our nation’s borders, the House Judiciary Committee led by Jim Jordan of Ohio has uncovered damning nonpublic data that confirms our worst fears. The data, released in an interim staff report, reveals the shocking extent of the crisis at the southern border.
The report exposes the record-breaking influx of illegal aliens encountered by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) along the southwest border, with a staggering 269,735 encounters in September 2023 alone. This surpasses the previous record set in December 2022, demonstrating the unrelenting surge of illegal immigrants streaming across the border. Despite this overwhelming evidence, the Biden administration shamefully refuses to acknowledge the situation as a “crisis.”

The report highlights the administration’s catch-and-release policy, which essentially turns a blind eye to removing illegal immigrants from the United States. Shockingly, of the nearly 6,000,000 illegal immigrant encounters during Biden’s tenure, over 3,095,577 individuals had not confirmed their departure from the country as of September 30, 2023. Additionally, more than 615,000 illegal immigrants are currently on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) “non-detained docket,” posing a serious threat to American communities.
Moreover, the Biden administration’s lackluster enforcement of immigration laws is laid bare by the revelation that a whopping 1,323,264 illegal immigrants with final orders of removal remained inside the U.S. as of December 10, 2023. Shockingly, the administration has only removed a mere one illegal alien for every 26 allowed to enter the country. This abysmal track record underscores their utter failure to uphold the rule of law and protect American sovereignty.
Even when the Biden administration feigns enforcement at the border, it is an exercise in futility. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), led by the embattled Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, has woefully failed to take the necessary actions to address the crisis. Only 6.8 percent of illegal aliens encountered at the southwest border have been placed into asylum eligibility screenings, demonstrating a lack of interest in upholding U.S. immigration laws.
Furthermore, the data reveals that a mere 2 percent of illegal aliens who failed to appear at their immigration court hearings after claiming persecution at the border were removed from the country. This abysmal enforcement rate allows a staggering 98 percent of such illegal immigrants to remain in the United States with impunity.
The undeniable truth laid bare by this data is that the Biden administration’s open-border policies have created a full-blown crisis at our southern border. The unrelenting surge of illegal immigrants, fueled by the administration’s failure to enforce immigration laws, poses a grave threat to our national security and public safety.
By denying the severity of the crisis and actively opposing efforts by states like Texas to secure the border, the Biden administration has shown a blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of American citizens. It is imperative that we hold this administration accountable for its reckless and dangerous policies, and demand immediate action to stem the tide of illegal immigration into our country.
