Former Republican Representative Mayra Flores and the wife of a frontier Patrol agent expressed concern over the deteriorating situation at the southern frontier after an illegal immigrant viciously attacked a Border Patrol agent. After being assaulted by a cartel member who had the word "RATA" carved into his forehead, law enforcement officers were left bleeding and injured, as depicted in shocking images.

Flores utilized social media to draw attention to the violence perpetrated against Border Patrol agents by individuals who refuse to be apprehended. She emphasized the gravity of the situation and asked for prayers for the military personnel. According to reports, the assault occurred near McAllen, Texas, which is only a few hours away from Eagle Pass, Texas, where a massive influx of illegal immigrants has overwhelmed the border.
Mexican traffickers, notorious for their violence and involvement in drug smuggling, have been known to apply body paint to their victims. Flores launched a plan to combat President Biden's border crisis by safeguarding children and women from trafficking and bolstering border patrol agents. She emphasized that her values are consistent with those of the Republican Party and criticized the Democratic Party for opposing these values.
Even though the Biden administration asserts that the border is "closed," dangerous cartels continue to target Border Patrol agents. The administration has failed to effectively resolve the ongoing crisis, with data indicating that fewer border-crossing migrants are being returned to Mexico than under Title 42 under the previous administration. Since Title 42's repeal, a monthly average of 1,000 individuals have been returned across the border, compared to nearly 3,000 the month prior.
In August alone, frontier Patrol agents at the Mexican frontier made 181,508 arrests, a 37% increase from the previous month. In spite of the presence of approximately 17,000 agents along the southern frontier, illegal immigrants have been able to enter the United States by hitching rides on freight trains near Irapuato, Mexico. The situation has become so alarming that Ferromex, the largest railroad company in Mexico, has decided to stop at least 60 freight trains due to the large number of migrants attempting to use these trains to enter the United States.
This heinous assault on a Border Patrol agent is a direct consequence of President Biden's failed open-border policies. The cartels are taking advantage of the Biden Administration's lack of border control through their brazen violence and flagrant disregard for law and order. Clearly, the president's promise to close the frontier is nothing but empty rhetoric. The safety and security of our Border Patrol agents should be a top priority, but instead, they are becoming targets for these ruthless traffickers. It is time to increase border enforcement and revert to the effective policies implemented by the Trump administration. The sovereignty of our nation and the protection of our citizens and law enforcement officers must take precedence.
