CNN’s fact-checking division has come under criticism for using President Joe Biden’s denial of any involvement in the Department of Justice’s targeting of former President Donald Trump as evidence to support their claim that Biden played no role.

Daniel Dale, a prominent member of CNN’s fact-checking team, argued that there is no evidence to suggest Biden’s involvement in the charges against Trump. However, additional evidence emerged in September indicating that Biden may have been involved. Furthermore, Dale’s credibility has been questioned as he sought assistance from a Delaware gun control group, DeCAGV, while fact-checking a piece on red flag laws in Biden’s home state.

While it is not unusual for fact-checkers to seek input from sources, Dale’s reliance on a potentially biased organization raises concerns about his objectivity. Surprisingly, despite identifying himself as responsible for fact-checking the president, Dale has not fact-checked Joe Biden in nearly three months, instead focusing his attention on scrutinizing random Twitter users like Stephen Miller. Miller has speculated that Dale’s fact-checking activities may be connected to Hunter Biden, suggesting a possible defense of the president’s son influenced by partisan considerations and Democrat privilege.
