Biden’s Green Agenda Push Could Mean Higher Costs for Families This Holiday Season

In an ironic twist of fate, while the rest of America is tuning into holiday festivities, President Joe Biden seems dead set on sticking a hefty lump of coal in the stockings of hardworking families by racing to push through his Green New Deal agenda before stepping aside. His latest theatrical performance involves a series of executive orders that would make even the most ardent environmentalists do a double-take. You’d think the man was trying to win an award for *Most Dramatic Departure from Common Sense*.

President-elect Donald Trump has taken to Truth Social to unleash his frustrations, declaring that Biden is making the transition period as bumpy as an old dirt road. The president-elect didn’t hold back, labeling the orders as part of a “Green New Scam.” The irony? A certain former president once surrendered the Atlantic coastline to a drilling moratorium while campaigning for votes, only to complain about his successor’s executive decisions in these last days. It appears Trump is eager to reclaim the energy independence he once championed and give some semblance of sanity back to a weary nation.

Among Biden’s draconian measures is a sweeping executive order that throws a blanket ban on new offshore oil and gas drilling across an astonishing 625 million acres of American coastal real estate. This includes areas on the East and West Coasts, the Gulf of Mexico, and even parts of Alaska’s Northern Bering Sea. But one has to wonder: did anyone actually think there was much happening off those coasts anyway? Calamity struck the California coast back in 1969, and since then, it’s been more about beach bonfires than oil rigs.

Furthermore, while Biden insists that his orders are justified by the potential environmental fallout, it’s worth noting that this ban doesn’t cover the bulk of oil production in the Gulf. Great news for Texas and Louisiana, but the irony continues—essentially the areas most impacted by his measures produce nearly 15 percent of the nation’s oil and nearly all offshore gas production. One could argue the president is throwing the baby out with the bathwater while claiming he’s saving the planet.

The latest debacle comes complete with a ban targeting natural gas water heaters, which figures to slap a sticker shock on low-income households. So much for saving money, as it appears that consumers are left with the short end of the stick while the environmentalists twirl their eco-friendly banners. Those in favor of these changes may tout lower long-term costs, but anyone with half a brain knows that new restrictions rarely lead to lower prices at the checkout.

As Biden gears up to wave goodbye, the stage is set for Trump to come in and clean up the environmental mess left behind by a president all-too-eager to appease his radical base. However, it won’t be a simple matter of reversing the damage done. The legal battles looming on the horizon, courtesy of leftist environmental groups, could turn the repeal into another prolonged circus. In the meantime, Americans can only hope that a new administration brings back common sense and practicality—all while sipping their hot apple cider and praying for a swift return to energy independence.
