Heating Industry Experts Sound the Alarm as Biden Pumps Money into Electric Heat Pumps
The heating industry experts are in a tizzy after President Joe Biden invoked the Defense Production Act to shower taxpayer money onto the manufacturers of electric heat pumps. This unilateral move unfairly gives these electric heat pump makers an advantage over the hardworking folks who produce natural gas or propane-powered residential heating systems. It’s a real head-scratcher, folks.

The Biden Administration is dishing out a whopping $169 million to accelerate the production of electric heat pumps in 15 states, claiming it’s all in the name of national security. Deputy Secretary of Defense Dr. Kathleen Hicks even had the gall to suggest that reducing America’s reliance on gas and oil is essential for national security. And if that’s not enough, Democrat operative John Podesta and Biden’s clean energy czar, Ali Zaidi, are painting this as a heroic move to combat climate change. What a load of malarkey!
But hold your horses, because not everyone is singing Biden’s praises. Ben Lieberman, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, is calling foul on this shameless corporate welfare. And he’s not the only one. Karen Harbert, the president and CEO of the American Gas Association, is deeply disappointed by Biden’s misuse of the Defense Production Act, which is meant to safeguard national security, not push a partisan energy agenda.
Even the National Association of Home Builders is shaking their heads at Biden’s misuse of the Defense Production Act, which was intended to protect the American people, not advance a political agenda. They argue that the real crisis lies in the extreme shortage of distribution transformers, which is hindering the construction of much-needed housing developments and impeding disaster recovery efforts.
