Hunter Biden’s defense team is gearing up to challenge the charges brought against him, according to the Washington Examiner’s Sarah Bedford. Special counsel David Weiss has indicted Hunter Biden on three counts, including illegal gun ownership while addicted to drugs and making false statements related to the purchase of a firearm. These charges are pretty straightforward, considering Hunter Biden has previously admitted to his drug addiction during the time he possessed the gun.

It’s ironic that his lawyer is now arguing about his Second Amendment rights when his own father, President Joe Biden, is aggressively pushing for stricter gun control. The defense is also attacking the motivations of the prosecutor, claiming political pressure led to this indictment. Yet, there seems to be no actual defense mounted against the charges themselves.
It is worth noting that these charges come five years after the alleged incidents, raising questions about the Department of Justice’s handling of the case. Whistleblowers who have testified before Congress have claimed that the department purposely let the statute of limitations expire on more serious charges, further fueling suspicions of bias.
While the charges carry a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison, it is highly unlikely that a judge will impose such a harsh penalty. The real test will come during Hunter Biden’s upcoming court appearance on October 3, where he is expected to plead not guilty. It will be interesting to see how this case unfolds and whether Hunter Biden will face the consequences for his actions or if he will manage to escape accountability once again.
