President Joe Biden managed to muster just the right amount of joy and optimism to address the nation following the resounding victory of President-elect Trump. With an upbeat demeanor donned like a shiny new pair of shoes, he took to the Rose Garden and, surprisingly, seemed to accept the choice of the American people rather gracefully.
Biden, demonstrating what some might call a sudden burst of bipartisan spirit, stated that one cannot selectively love their country based on electoral outcomes. He painted a picture of unity by encouraging Americans to see each other as compatriots rather than opponents. This sentiment, however, comes from the same administration that, just weeks prior, willingly labeled Trump a “fascist” while his vice president, Kamala Harris, painted him as a dire threat to democracy itself. Surely, there are only so many times one can call the other side a threat before it becomes a little too hard to hold hands and sing Kumbaya.
Joe Biden today: “We accept the choice the country made.”
I genuinely believe he voted for Trump.

In a startling twist, Biden sought to reassure Americans about the integrity of the electoral process, which has seen its fair share of skepticism since the last presidential election. He insisted that the system is fair and transparent, much like a well-worn record playing the same tune on repeat. This insistence comes even as voters decisively sent the message that they were decidedly not interested in four more years of Harris’s reign — a reminder that Biden himself had praised this unsought ‘successor.’
One has to wonder how the Biden administration interprets “success” when they trotted out Biden to claim a laundry list of so-called accomplishments. Under the Biden-Harris banner, folks have faced skyrocketing costs, international conflicts popping up like weeds, an influx of illegal migration, and an embarrassing military withdrawal from Afghanistan that many would argue should’ve been handled with an entirely different playbook. It’s a bit rich, to say the least, for him to tout dubious historical victories while Americans are left scraping their wallets together just to fill their gas tanks.
Beyond Biden’s attempts at self-congratulation, the specter of a Trump comeback looms large. The American public soundly rejected the Biden administration’s campaign of legal harassment against Trump, an unprecedented tactic that had none raising their glasses in joyous celebration. Rather than rallying behind a failing vice president, one might argue that Biden will be remembered as the man who inadvertently paved the way for Trump’s return to power.
With all this background noise, Biden’s upbeat platitudes about unity and healing feel somewhat misplaced. The reality is clear: his administration is on track for a legacy defined by failures and missed opportunities, rather than triumphs. As Biden endorsed, campaigned for, and financially backed Harris, the political chessboard has famously turned in favor of Trump, leaving many to chuckle at the irony of an administration that effectively gifted the opposition its greatest comeback opportunity ever.
