The first lady of the United States, Jill Biden, revealed the White House Christmas decorations in a video that was shared on X, and let’s just say it didn’t quite jingle everyone’s bells! This year’s theme, “Magic, Wonder and Joy,” was met with some positive feedback, but it was mostly a lump of coal as critics compared it to former first lady Melania Trump’s festive decor videos.
Folks on the interwebs didn’t hold back, calling the video everything from a “nightmare” to “creepy,” with some going as far to say it was “the worst thing” they’ve ever laid their eyes on.
In her message on X, Biden mentioned that the tap dancers were from a group called Dorrance Dance. But wait a candy cane minute—turns out this group is as far left as Santa’s workshop in the North Pole! They’re all about questioning white privilege, systemic racism, and anti-racism, and even have a section on their website to “educate yourself” about these topics.
If that wasn’t enough chestnuts roasting on an open fire, the group also pushes for prison abolition, defunding the police, and even quotes Angela Davis, a radical Marxist who’s no stranger to controversy. Davis was once on the FBI’s “10 Most Wanted” list and had ties to some pretty concerning events in the past.
Conservative voices like Sebastian Gorka and Gail Alfar were quick to chime in, pointing out the questionable affiliations and beliefs of Dorrance Dance. And Jeremy Carl didn’t sugarcoat his thoughts either, highlighting the group’s far-left causes and their founder’s outspoken views on systemic racism and colonialism.
So, while the White House decked the halls with boughs of holly, it looks like some folks are more focused on the ghost of Christmas left. Whether you’re a fan of the holiday cheer or not, this year’s decorations have certainly stirred up more debate than a dinner table discussion on politics. After all, ’tis the season for giving, and it seems like the gift of controversy keeps on giving!
