Biden’s Youth Approval Crumbles: Broken Promises, Sky-High Costs & Endless Mandates to Blame

Looks like President Biden has managed to rake in some serious disapproval from the very demographic that Democrats usually count on—young voters. And no, it’s not just because of the administration’s stance on Israel’s war against Hamas. Good old Jeremy Etelson over at The Hill has pointed out what conservatives have known for a while: there’s a growing unease with Biden among the youth that goes beyond foreign policy.

Let’s face it, the Biden administration has been a train wreck in slow motion. From ignoring basic economic principles to redefining gender and biology to pushing radical environmental policies, the Democrats have provided a masterclass in how to alienate young people who aren’t interested in living in a utopia designed by overpaid bureaucrats. The so-called “Build Back Better” agenda has turned into “Build Back Bitter.”

Remember when Joe campaigned on promises of student loan forgiveness? Young voters do, and they’ve noticed that those promises have been about as empty as Al Gore’s mansion during Earth Hour. Higher education costs are still sky-high, and the job market isn’t exactly rolling out the red carpet either. It’s almost like this administration has forgotten that young people have to actually live in the real world, where avocado toast and kombucha don’t pay the rent.

Then there’s the heavy-handed COVID restrictions that just wouldn’t go away. Young folks had their graduations canceled, college experiences diminished, and social lives hamstrung by endless mandates and ineffective lockdowns. Spoiler alert: staying home and binge-watching Netflix didn’t exactly make anyone more enthusiastic about a government that can’t figure out how to balance individual freedoms with public health.

Let’s also talk energy prices. Remember when gas was at a reasonable price and heating your home didn’t require taking out a second mortgage? Young voters remember too, and they’re not thrilled about paying the price for a Green New Deal that seems more like a Bad Deal. Meanwhile, the administration keeps pushing electric vehicles, barely acknowledging that most young people can’t even afford rent, let alone a shiny new Tesla.

In between his fumbles and stumbles, Joe Biden has managed to pull off the impressive feat of alienating young voters who are waking up to the fact that the promises of progressive policies are nothing but a smokescreen for higher taxes, fewer freedoms, and more government overreach.
