In the wake of the recent conflict between Israel and Hamas, multinational companies that previously showed support for Black Lives Matter (BLM) are now reconsidering their stance. During the aftermath of the Israel-Hamas conflict, two BLM-related groups, BLM Chicago and BLM Grassroots, expressed support for Hamas, the terrorist group responsible for the deaths of roughly 1,200 Israelis. BLM Chicago even posted a tweet with a now-deleted image of a parachuter carrying a Palestinian flag with the caption, “I Stand With Palestine.”

It seems that some of these companies, such as DoorDash, Airbnb, and Dove, are avoiding making any public statements about their continued association with BLM. DoorDash donated $500,000 to BLM, while Airbnb donated $500,000 to both BLM and the NAACP. Dove took their support even further by donating $1 million to BLM, the National Urban League, The Bail Project, and the National Bail Fund Network. However, these companies have remained silent regarding their support for BLM in light of BLM’s alleged support for Hamas.

BLM’s website does not currently mention anything about the Israel-Hamas conflict, but their past hostile views towards Israel are well-known. In 2016, BLM referred to Israel as an “apartheid” state in their official platform. As these multinational companies rethink their support for BLM, it remains to be seen how they will address the issue and whether they will continue donating to the organization.
It is concerning to see companies supporting an organization that has shown sympathy towards a terrorist group responsible for the deaths of innocent Israelis. It is encouraging to see some of these companies reconsidering their support and questioning whether their donations to BLM are in line with their values and the interests of their customers. As consumers, it is important to be aware of where our money is going and support businesses that align with our own principles and beliefs.
