On the latest episode of HBO’s “Real Time,” Bill Maher had some strong opinions about the upcoming presidential debates between President Joe Biden and 2024 Republican candidate Donald Trump. Maher believes Biden must be feeling the heat because why else would he agree to the debates? According to Maher, only the loser wants to debate, and Trump, well, he just loves being the center of attention.
Maher pointed out that summer debates are a rare occurrence, typically happening closer to the election in October. With this debate scheduled for June 27, Maher finds it all a bit premature. He seemed quite intrigued by the idea that the candidates’ microphones would be cut off if they run over their time limit during the debate. Maybe Maher thinks it will prevent any unnecessary rambling or grandstanding – sounds like a good plan!

It’s clear Maher has his doubts about Biden’s confidence in the upcoming election. He seems to think Biden agreeing to the debates so early is a sign of weakness. As for Trump, Maher believes he would show up to debate no matter how he’s doing in the polls because, well, who doesn’t love a good crowd, right?
