In a show of rare bipartisan unity, Gov. Jared Polis (D-CO) joined forces with Gov. Spencer Cox (R-UT) and former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan to take a stand against the chaos and madness at the southern border. The trio didn’t hold back in expressing their frustration at the utter failure of federal and congressional leaders to work together in addressing the pressing issue of illegal immigration.
During a gathering at American University, Gov. Polis didn’t mince words when he called for real border security and a crackdown on the porous southern border. He emphasized the urgent need to expedite the painfully slow immigration processes that are clogging up the system. The Democratic governor pointed out the absurdity of the federal government’s policies leading to a surge of illegal immigrants, leaving the states to deal with the overwhelming consequences.
Gov. Cox echoed the sentiment, asserting that securing the border is a shared goal between both parties. He stressed the need to fix legal immigration and highlighted the ridiculousness of the entire situation. It’s crystal clear that the Democrats want a secure border, and the Republicans want to streamline the legal immigration process. Yet, the Washington swamp creatures remain astonishingly tone-deaf to the desires of the American people.
The recent failure of the Senate to pass a much-needed border security bill despite months of negotiations only intensified the growing frustration among the governors. The proposed legislation sought to reform the asylum process, empower the president with expulsion authority, and bolster the number of border patrol agents and asylum officers. It’s mind-boggling how Washington managed to bungle such a crucial issue when the solution seems straightforward – secure the border and fix the broken immigration system. Yet, the political theatrics in the swamp continue to prevail over common sense.
In the face of this relentless bureaucratic gridlock, the governors’ steadfast call for action resonates with the ordinary folks who are bearing the brunt of the border crisis. The American people are tired of the empty promises and political posturing while the southern border remains a free-for-all. It’s high time for the bickering politicians to put aside their partisan games and do what’s right for the country. Let’s hope the outcry from these governors serves as a wake-up call to the clueless elites in Washington, D.C.
