Carville Calls for Clinton, Obama to Oust Biden Ahead of 2024

James Carville, the Democratic Party’s infamous strategist, is calling in the heavyweights to clean up a looming 2024 disaster. According to the Clinton-era spin doctor, it’s time for the likes of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama to step in and orchestrate a smooth exit for President Joe Biden before the ship completely sinks. Carville believes Biden’s days in the White House are numbered, despite the President’s desperate appeals for unity among congressional Democrats.

In a New York Times op-ed, Carville declared that the Democrats shouldn’t just default to Vice President Kamala Harris or another convenient candidate. Instead, he’s pushing for a transparent process to find a viable replacement, taking a subtle jab at the way Republicans have consolidated behind Donald Trump. This level of transparency, however, is a rare commodity in Democratic circles, and Carville’s call for town halls across the nation might be a pipe dream.

Carville’s grand plan involves four town halls in key regions—the South, Northeast, Midwest, and West—where the anointed duo, Obama and Clinton, would lead the discussions. He reasons that these former presidents have the know-how to pick a winner and the chops to keep the Democratic ship from capsizing. If Obama and Clinton are their saviors, the party must be worse off than anyone realized.

He proposes an eight-contender showdown, including Kamala Harris, whom he claims would be a tough opponent for Trump. Given Harris’s lackluster performance and approval ratings, this sounds more like wishful thinking than a practical strategy. Carville fantasizes that these town halls will not only reintroduce Harris but also showcase the party’s “deep bench” of leaders. This mythical “deep bench” has been conspicuously absent in recent years, making one wonder who’s left to run for the top job.

Furthermore, Carville trusts the Democratic delegates will come to a sensible decision after grilling the candidates. Calling them “pragmatic patriots,” Carville seems to have a lot of faith in a group that has often struggled to present a united front. He cheers the delegates on, confident they can handle the stressful task of picking a nominee in both public and private forums before the Democratic convention.

Despite the apparent chaos, Carville insists he isn’t worried about delegates, talent, money, time, or even Donald Trump. After all, it’s been a painful journey for those who believe Biden deserves a second term, even though it’s clear to everyone else that he doesn’t have the stamina or support to secure another four years. The Democrats now face the grueling task of picking up the pieces and finding someone—anyone—who stands a chance in 2024.
