China’s Spy Balloons Taunt Taiwan: Espionage Skies Ahead?

The Chinese spy balloons are back at it again, flying over our good ol’ friends in Taiwan. The Taiwanese military spotted not one, but two of those sneaky balloons cruising over the Taiwan Strait on Sunday, making their way to the north of the island.

Now, China has been acting like these balloons are just innocently collecting weather data. The only data those balloons are interested in is the kind that gives them the upper hand in espionage shenanigans. And get this, another one of these snooping balloons decided to make an appearance southwest of Keelung on December 7th.

The fact that these balloons reached an altitude of 27,000 feet and then suddenly disappeared is enough to make you raise an eyebrow. The Taiwanese Defense Ministry is trying to play it cool by referring to them as “weather balloons.”

This all comes just before Taiwan’s presidential election, which smells fishier than a seafood market in July. The front-runner, William Lai of the Democratic Progressive Party, has been openly gunning for Taiwan’s independence from the Chinese mainland.

The good ol’ Biden administration did nothing to stop them from gallivanting all over our airspace. It wasn’t until the balloons practically had a beach day off the coast of South Carolina that the Pentagon finally decided it was time to take action.

And then, to add insult to injury, the Biden administration tried to tell us that these balloons weren’t gathering any intel over our military sites.
