Former Director of Intelligence James Clapper, who is known for being involved in misleading the American people during the Obama administration, has appeared on CNN to double down on his bad remarks about Russia and the infamous laptop. He was asked about the letter that was signed by 51 former intel officers, including himself, to warn about Russia’s influence on the 2020 election. This letter helped interfere in the election, giving Joe Biden false claims to talk about the Russian disinformation on his laptop. However, it seems that Clapper and his team had no solid evidence to support their claim.

He did mention that he doesn’t have any regret for signing the letter and that he thought it was “appropriate to sound an alarm about the dark hand of the Russians” on the heels of what the Russians did in the 2016 elections. He also said the letter was caveated by acknowledging their lack of direct evidence, which indicates that they had no real basis to do what they did. It’s worth noting that he and the other intel officers still signed the letter because it fit the narrative they wanted to push.

Clapper even went as far as a double-down by claiming that he still hasn’t seen any forensic analysis result of that laptop to determine if the Russians messed with it. Despite the ample evidence to disprove his claims on the laptop’s authenticity and the existence of questionable behavior by Joe Biden and his son Hunter, Clapper chooses to ignore them.
The CNN host, Kaitlan Collins, allowed his unfounded claims to go unchecked. It’s not surprising as CNN hired Clapper to be their “national security analyst,” even after his clearly erroneous testimony to Congress about the US Government collecting data on Americans. They also hired other people like former FBI official, Andrew McCabe, without regard for their integrity. The House Speaker, Kevin McCarthy, called out CNN for hiring these questionable analysts, but the network has ignored this and continues to push their biased narrative.
