He insisted that European nations were now weak-kneed over the possibility of Trump forsaking Ukraine, while conveniently ignoring the fact that NATO has been charging U.S. taxpayers much more than its European counterparts. The reality is, the concept of allies should be mutual cooperation and shared responsibilities, not a perpetual one-way street where American taxpayers foot the bill without question.
Jonah Goldberg, donned in the robes of self-declared journalistic wisdom, unleashed a stream of pretentious musings. He argued that Trump views NATO as a protection racket, which, ironically, aligns closely with the actual sentiments of many Americans who have grown weary of footing the bill for nations that fail to pull their weight. The pompous accusations about Trump’s respect for adversaries like Xi and Putin underscored outdated notions of foreign policy that have been fueled by decades of liberal appeasement.
The bottom line is simple: Trump’s emphasis on demanding accountability from European nations is a necessary shift in strategy that most Americans support.
