Convicted Felon Deported Four Times Arrested Again in NYC by ICE

On May 21, a Mexican man with a lengthy criminal history in the United States was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in New York City. This individual, who has been deported to Mexico four times previously, has several felony convictions, including manslaughter, carrying a prohibited weapon, and illegal reentry. He was apprehended at the Otisville Federal Correctional Facility and will remain in custody until he is deported back to Mexico.

Kenneth Genalo, director of the ERO New York City Field Office, emphasized that the man poses a significant threat to community safety due to his persistent violations of U.S. laws. The man was first convicted of homicide in 1985 and sentenced to eight years in prison for voluntary manslaughter in 1986. Despite being deported to Mexico later that year, he has illegally reentered the United States four times.

In addition to his manslaughter conviction, the man has been convicted of carrying a prohibited weapon and illegal reentry. ICE reported that in fiscal year 2023, they arrested 73,822 noncitizens with criminal histories, resulting in a total of 290,178 charges and convictions. These offenses included assault, sex and sexual assault, weapon offenses, homicide, and kidnapping.
