In a groundbreaking ruling that gives a big victory to the sanity and good old common sense, a federal court has dealt a mighty blow to the Biden Department of Energy’s ridiculous attempts to tell Americans how to wash their dishes and clothes. The U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals straight-up shut down the Biden administration’s power grab, stating that the Department of Energy had no business meddling in the water and energy usage of our trusty dishwashers and washing machines.
The judge didn’t hold back, declaring that the DOE has no authority to regulate the water use of these essential appliances, and even went as far as to call out the Biden administration’s attempt as nothing short of frivolous. The court saw right through the Biden administration’s feeble arguments that it was somehow “mandated” to roll back regulations that favored appliances using more water and energy. It’s almost like they don’t understand the concept of consumer choice!

And get this – the DOE’s feeble attempts to argue that they “failed to adequately consider” their beloved Energy Policy Conservation Act’s requirements fell flat on its face as well. The court wasn’t buying it, pointing out that in pushing for so-called “energy-efficient” appliances, the DOE was basically forcing consumers to use even more energy and water, all to compensate for the poor performance of these overregulated and underperforming products. It’s like they want us to live in the dark and wash our dishes in the creek!
But fear not, freedom-loving Americans, because there are heroes in this story. The non-profit libertarian think tank Competitive Enterprise Institute’s attorney, Devin Watkins, hailed the court’s decision, rightfully noting that it’s about time the DOE stops playing Big Brother and let manufacturers make appliances that actually work, and don’t make us jump through hoops just to get our dishes clean.
This victory over the Biden administration’s overbearing and, frankly, ridiculous attempt to control every aspect of our lives is a win for all of us who believe in common sense, freedom of choice, and the right to own appliances that actually get the job done. With the Biden administration’s relentless push for a green economy at the expense of performance and consumer choice, it’s time for all of us to stand up and say, “No more! We want clean dishes and clean clothes without the government telling us how to do it!”
