Cut Taxpayer Funds to End Trump Derangement Syndrome

The nation stands on the precipice of election chaos, with issues like the border crisis, inflation rates that make one wish for the days of a nickel soda, and a job market that’s a little too reminiscent of a dystopian movie. Yet, instead of addressing these pressing concerns, some folks have decided to channel their energy into a perplexing and humorous phenomenon: Trump Derangement Syndrome, or TDS for those in the club. This mental health crisis has left approximately 70 million Americans grappling with delusions that make early 2000s grunge fashion seem sensible.

TDS isn’t a new concept. It finds its roots in what was once called Bush Derangement Syndrome, a time when “Bushitler” was a household name and any public appearance from Dick Cheney warranted a collective gasp from liberals. Fast forward to today, and it seems the name has changed, but the outrageous attacks on a former president persist. Of course, these same critics would have you believe that they’re entitled to their panic and paranoia, all while conveniently ignoring their hypocrisy. After all, isn’t it amusing that former President Bush is now viewed as an elder statesman because he chose not to endorse Trump? In a nutshell, the left’s reasoning can be summed up as—no one, not even Hitler, would vote for Trump. It’s a warped worldview that’s somehow taken root in mainstream America.

The disorder of TDS appears to affect that little part of the brain responsible for rational thought. Symptoms include wild conspiracy theories, public meltdowns over routine political events, and an unshakeable belief that some shadowy cabal is out to get them. And what are these individuals to do when Trump isn’t around to fuel their fantasies? One could hope that a gentle nudge back to reality would set them straight, though many seem too far gone to catch a whiff of common sense. Social media offerings from influencers, like a cartoon by Elon Musk that pokes fun at TDS, merely scratch the surface of this societal insanity.

So, how does one go about intervening on such a massive scale? Attempting to provide clarity to tens of millions suffering from TDS seems like a Herculean task. The best approach is to cut off the financial support fueling their delusions. The government often funnels ridiculous amounts of cash into ludicrous programs, and every time a liberal college gets a million-dollar grant for “equity-focused strategies,” it’s yet another indication that taxpayer money is being used to prop up outrageous ideologies.

Instead of resigning ourselves to this farcical reality, it’s worth considering whether halting these funds could bring about a much-needed return to sanity. A firm “no” to subsidizing hysteria might be the remedy that cures—not just the afflicted—but the nation as a whole. Stopping the funds dedicated to maintaining this delusional mindset could open the door for rational discourse again, and who knows? It could even come with the bonus of a tax cut. Now that’s a win-win.
