In a hilarious twist of fate, a Democratic poll has revealed that President Joe Biden is trailing former President Donald Trump by an average of 4 points in six key swing states. The poll, conducted by Democrats for the Next Generation in cooperation with Emerson College, shows Trump leading in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Nevada. Trump’s advantage ranges from 1 to 6 points, with his strongest position in the gambling capital of Nevada. Even in this Democrat-backed survey, the contests were pretty much neck-and-neck within the margin of error.
This head-scratcher of a poll runs counter to other post-debate surveys, like Bloomberg News-Morning Consult’s, which showed Biden leading in Wisconsin and Michigan. Still, it seems even Democratic supporters can’t ignore what’s unfolding: 61% of respondents believe that Biden, based on his debate performance, is too old to lead the country effectively.
This growing realization isn’t limited to the general public. Multiple Democratic members of Congress, political pundits, and news organizations openly question Biden’s competency. The calls for him to step aside and make way for a younger, more energetic candidate are getting louder. The same poll suggests that if a younger, qualified candidate replaced Biden, they would outperform Trump by 6% and beat Biden’s numbers by a whopping 20%.

Democrats for the Next Generation, the group behind this polling effort, seems ready to push its own agenda. They’ve been touting high-profile names like Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan and Governor Gavin Newsom of California as possible Biden replacements. To spice things up, they’ve pledged $2 million to fund “mini-primary” debates among qualified Democratic candidates, just in case Biden ends up bowing out.
Despite these growing pressures, Biden and his loyal campaign team remain as resolute as ever. The president even called into Morning Joe to throw down the gauntlet, daring any Democrats who want to see him step aside to challenge him at the August convention in Chicago. The Biden camp appears unfazed by the murmurs of doubt and is sticking to their guns.
