Democrats’ Desperate Attempt To Smear Trump Backfires Spectacularly

The Democratic playbook for 2023 seems to consist of throwing anything and everything at the wall to see what will stick. With Donald Trump ramping up his momentum ahead of the presidential election, the Left finds itself in a panic, frantically trying to concoct an “October surprise.” Their latest attempt to sink Trump revolves around a piece in The Atlantic authored by Jeffrey Goldberg, which attempted to paint the former president as callous and uncaring regarding the tragic death of Army private Vanessa Guillen. However, in a shocking twist, the story blew up in the Democrats’ face, igniting a firestorm of pushback from Guillen’s family.

Goldberg’s piece centers on the aftermath of Guillen’s death, which occurred at Fort Hood after she was murdered by a fellow soldier. In an attempt to drum up outrage, Goldberg alleged that Trump, who had pledged to cover Guillen’s funeral costs, became furious about the $60,000 bill. The Atlantic reported that Trump supposedly exclaimed a distasteful remark about burial costs for “a fu**ing Mexican.” By the time readers got through that melodramatic narrative, they could almost hear the clanging alarm bells of desperation from the left.

But the really amusing part? The Guillen family quickly swooped in to defend Trump, debunking Goldberg’s sensational claims. Mayra Guillen took to social media to express her discontent with how her sister’s memory was being weaponized for political gain. She made it clear that Trump’s actions were rooted in respect, asserting that he had done nothing but honor her sister’s family, even voting for Trump herself. Sounds like a major facepalm moment for the media elites.

Even more hilariously, Guillen’s attorney Natalie Khawam joined the defensive team, firing off her own comments as she dissected the alleged inaccuracies in Goldberg’s hit piece. According to her, not only did Trump show support for the military, but he also welcomed her clients to the Oval Office and backed the “I Am Vanessa Guillen” bill. Talk about a public relations fail on the part of The Atlantic! Perhaps they should reconsider their next attack.

Mark Meadows, Trump’s former chief of staff, also defended the ex-president. He put the rumor mill to rest by declaring that any suggestion of Trump disparaging Guillen or shirking responsibility for her funeral costs was simply untrue. Meadows emphasized that Trump had always been respectful towards Guillen’s family, and this whole debacle reeks more of a desperate media narrative than genuine reporting.

With Kamala Harris’ campaign sputtering and the Democrats clutching at straws, it’s clear they have resorted to some dramatic gymnastics in order to stay relevant. They might want to rethink their strategies, as this latest bid for outrage via misinformation shows just how far they’re willing to go in the hopes of reining in Trump’s resurgence. Henceforth, it seems the Left is resigned to swinging wild, hoping one desperate shot will hit the mark, even while the facts tell a much different story.
