The Democrats are trying again to get rid of former President Donald Trump. The claimed interference in Georgia's 2020 election results is the focus of the latest fishing trip. Fulton County District Attorney (DA) Fani Willis is a Democrat. She is using Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) law to look into Trump and his friends' attempts to overturn his close loss in the state.
Another Update on the 2020 Georgia Election Probe…And It's Not Good

Willis has added activities in Washington, D.C., and a few other states to her study. This has made the legal case much bigger and more complicated. She is saying that the supposed plan to change the results of Georgia's election could have been a large-scale crime. The state's RICO law is one of the most broad in the country. It lets lawyers build racketeering cases based on both state and federal law violations, as well as things that happened in other states.
An Atlanta-area investigation of alleged election interference by Trump and his allies has broadened to include activities that happened outside Georgia, a fresh sign prosecutors may be building a sprawling RICO case, @AmyEGardner @jdawsey1 report. https://t.co/IHFQpqEF1L

Willis is looking into how the Trump team spent more than $1 million on two firms to find out if there was election fraud in 2020. Even though the investigation has been going on for more than two years, it has only just started to look into what people outside of GA have been doing, such as those who took part in the riot at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Experts in the law say it will be hard to show the supposed pattern in court. Still, their goal is to get Trump to have another court date during his campaign, whether the charges are true or not.
The GOP, on the other hand, would be stuck with a candidate who was involved in a scandal. This would make the whole 2024 election season a wash and hurt the candidates further down the ticket, even though it's a very winnable year for the US Senate. As the election season gets closer, Democrats are trying to make sure that former President Trump has to deal with endless legal processes. It's a fishing trip that the GOP can't just ignore, and they need to do everything they can to stop it.
