Ron DeSantis, Florida Governor, recently visited the suffering southern border and didn’t miss the chance to criticize President Joe Biden and California Governor Gavin Newsom on their immigration policies. Speaking at a roundtable discussion with law enforcement officials, DeSantis expressed his disappointment with the current state of the country and took a shot at the President, accusing him of disregarding his duty of safeguarding the territorial integrity of the country and allowing a massive influx of illegal immigrants and drugs. DeSantis highlighted the growing immigration crisis at the southern border, indicating that the issue has been talked about for many years, but it has only worsened. According to the House Committee on Homeland Security, there were over 200,000 alien encounters in April, up almost 10% from the previous month and nearly 20% from April 2021.

DeSantis expressed his grievance over the situation, calling it the cause of a “massive dereliction of duty” on the President’s part and an “American crisis.” He pointed out that the reason for this problem was due to the open-border policies with sanctuary jurisdictions endorsed by governors like Newsom. The California governor has openly bragged about the state being a sanctuary jurisdiction and has attacked previous administrations’ efforts to tighten border security.
DeSantis didn’t back down from Newsom’s recent accusations that he was a small, pathetic man, and instead, he knitted his brows and condemned his policies that encouraged open-border and refused to address the problem. DeSantis stated that the states and law enforcement officials needed to work together. He pledged to work with law enforcement officials and other states affected by the border crisis, unlike the Border Czar Kamala Harris, who has only paid lip service to the issue.
DeSantis has taken a pragmatic approach to combat the border crisis by sending troops and personnel to the region. DeSantis even flew illegals to blue state havens like Martha’s Vineyard, indicating that he is more proactive than the Vice President. Biden’s administration has continuously failed to address the issues at the southern border, leading to human misery and chaos. RedState has published headlines recounting the human cost of Biden’s border policies, blaming border policies and COVID policy as reasons behind the massive spike in overdoses. Biden’s policies are shameful and require urgent action to stop the suffering. DeSantis is the first governor to take the necessary steps to solve the problem, indicating that he is up for the challenge.
