In a recent turn of events on Capitol Hill, there’s talk of funding the government to the tune of $1.590 trillion for the fiscal year 2024, with $886 billion dedicated to defense and $704 billion set aside for non-defense spending. But not everyone’s popping the champagne just yet. Enter former House member and current Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis, who had some choice words for this spending agreement.
DeSantis Is Not Pleased With House Republicans Right Now https://t.co/Jb8nbBQk3Z

In an interview with The Blaze, DeSantis made it clear he ain’t pleased with how House Republicans are handling things. He didn’t hold back, accusing them of “selling out” the very people who put them in power during the midterms. According to DeSantis, the GOP promised to shake things up in Washington, hold agencies accountable, and cut through the red tape. But in his view, this spending deal is a betrayal of those promises.
DeSantis believes that the House of Representatives has a critical role to play in reining in government overreach and ensuring that federal agencies are held to account. He sees the power of the purse as a key tool to keep the government in check. But instead, he feels that the current agreement just green-lights the same old song and dance, allowing the Biden administration to keep on trucking from one crisis to the next without consequence.
But DeSantis didn’t stop there. He broke out the big guns, slamming elected Republicans for their ‘business as usual’ approach and their failure to deliver on their conservative promises. He called for real leadership, not just lip service, and argued that it’s high time for a president who actually holds the line and puts the heat on those in power to deliver on their commitments.
In DeSantis’s eyes, the current situation is bleak, with the status quo strangling the American dream and undermining our nation’s sovereignty. He sees himself as the man for the job, the leader who won’t just talk the talk but will walk the walk and give the establishment a run for their money.
So, it seems the battle lines are drawn, and the stage is set for a showdown between DeSantis and the Republican establishment. Will the GOP heed his call for a return to conservative principles and push back against the spending deal, or will it be business as usual in Washington? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure – DeSantis isn’t about to let the status quo slide without a fight.
