DeSantis Stuck in Trump’s Shadow: 2024 Campaign Fumbles

The 2024 presidential race is heating up, and it seems like everyone and their grandmother is throwing their hat into the ring. But one person who may be facing an uphill battle is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. As a conservative Republican writer, I have been openly opposed to another nomination for Donald Trump, and have been eyeing DeSantis as a potential alternative. However, his campaign so far has been lackluster, to say the least.

Now, I don’t do endorsements, but let me tell you, DeSantis has been making waves as governor. He’s had an impressive track record, with plenty of conservative wins under his belt. And let’s not forget that he’s been able to accomplish all of this while fending off a hostile national media. But when it comes to the 2024 race, DeSantis hasn’t been able to gain much traction.

One of the biggest hurdles DeSantis faces is the shadow of Trump. Now, I know there are plenty of die-hard Trump supporters out there, and I respect that. But if we want a real shot at beating the Democrats in 2024, we need to have a candidate who can appeal to a wider audience. And unfortunately, it seems like many of DeSantis’ previous supporters have jumped ship to back Trump once again.

To make matters worse, DeSantis’ campaign strategy seems to be missing the mark. Instead of focusing on broad appeal and reaching out to a variety of voters, he has been doubling down on right-wing stances and pandering to the Twitter crowd. While I understand the desire to energize the base, it’s clear that this approach isn’t working. Non-Trump Republicans are feeling alienated, and even some of his supporters are scratching their heads, wondering what exactly he’s trying to achieve.

Now, it’s still early in the race, and things can change. DeSantis and his team have plenty of opportunities to turn things around and gain momentum. But as of now, Trump has once again dominated the political landscape, leaving little room for other candidates to shine. And let’s not forget the Democrats, who are salivating at the thought of running against Trump again.

As a conservative Republican, I believe we need a candidate who can unite the party and appeal to a wider range of voters. DeSantis has shown promise in the past, but his current campaign strategy isn’t cutting it. If he wants to have a real shot at winning the nomination, he needs to reevaluate his approach and focus on what made him successful in the first place.

In the end, it’s up to the voters to decide who they want to represent them in 2024. But as a conservative writer, I can’t help but feel disappointed in DeSantis’ campaign so far. I still believe he has the potential to be a strong conservative president, but he needs to get his campaign back on track if he wants to have a fighting chance. In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait and see how the race unfolds.
