Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine just made a big ol’ oopsie by nixing a bill that would’ve put the brakes on all this gender-changing business with minors and keeping transgender athletes out of girls’ and women’s sports. We’re talkin’ bill passed by the state legislature and everything, but DeWine just up and said, “Nah, I can’t sign this one, y’all.”
In a press conference, he went on about how the state shouldn’t be telling parents what’s best for their kiddos and how he’s gonna cook up some rules for those gender clinics and beef up protection for the ankle biters. He even got all worked up over the idea of gender-reassignment surgery for young’uns.
Of course, there were some Ohio Republicans, like US Sen. J.D. Vance, who were crossing their fingers, toes, and everything in between, hopin’ DeWine would see the light and sign that bill.
On to Lia Thomas situation. This here transgender swimmer won the NCAA’s Division I 500-yard freestyle title, and that got folks all riled up and pushin’ for action. Even Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis ain’t havin’ it, banning the whole shebang and proudly boasting about it during his 2024 Republican presidential primary gig.
Big-time politicos like former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie joinin’ in on DeWine’s party, yammering on about parents callin’ the shots and government buttin’ out.
