Disneyland, the subject of the argument, has recently been scrutinized by conservative parents due to a TikTok video that showed a male greeting kids while dressed as a fairy godmother. The video recorded almost seven million views, and it has ignited a firestorm of criticism against Disney’s “woke” agenda of grooming children through movies and books.

Nick, the announcer in the video, greets visitors to Disneyland by introducing himself as one of the “fairy godmother’s apprentices” and offers to give a tour of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. However, what concerned conservative parents is the fact that this individual wore a dress and blue eyeshadow, with a mustache prominent on his face.

The critics of this trend have labeled this as “sexual grooming” and accused Disney of being radical, inclusive, and a part of the left-wing community.
Conservative media producer, Dave Rubin, criticized the decision to hire Nick and predicted sarcastically that Biden would ask him to run the nuclear program by the end of the day. The decision to hire Nick is bizarre and inappropriate as real girls applied to participate in the show. Peachy Keenan, a conservative writer, argued further and said that this kind of gender-bending takes young kids out of the “show” and that the illusion is broken.
Jenna Ellis, longtime lawyer for former President Donald Trump, expressed her discomfort towards the incident. She recalls the time when women were not allowed to wear certain nail polish colors as per the “Disney Look.” Now, however, Disney has given its staff the freedom to wear whatever they like and has tapped into the “woke” culture.
Disney managed to draw attention to itself by pushing an inclusive and gender-neutral approach, and it has rebranded its apprentice program by changing its name from “Fairy Godmothers in Training” to “Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices “. This change is to ensure cast members who identify as not female can still be a part of the program without referring to themselves using female characters. In addition to this, Disney has scrubbed phases such as “ladies and gentlemen, boys, and girls” as part of its “inclusive” approach.
Overall, the decision of Disney to allow a male individual to dress as a fairy godmother has raised many red flags for conservative parents. The decision is uncomfortable as it challenges the perception of gender identity among young children and has drawn the attention of right-wing critics.
