The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is making a fatal political mistake by putting all their hopes on an elderly and decreasingly capable Joe Biden for the 2024 election. This is especially concerning considering that recent polls show that Biden is losing to both former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Meanwhile, Democratic candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is gaining significant traction and averaging about 15-20% support among primary voters. However, the DNC has made it clear that there will be no primary debates. This decision has not gone down well with Democratic voters, with around 80% wanting to see Biden debate his fellow Democratic challengers. The DNC’s decision is undemocratic and works to protect Biden from challengers, something that has not been seen in nearly 70 years. Despite this, CNN has reported that the majority of Democrats still approve and favor Biden, and therefore, politicians like Kennedy should accept the status quo. The DNC’s decision to shield Biden, however, is a huge mistake, depriving Democratic voters of the chance to learn more about viable candidates such as Kennedy. This move could backfire spectacularly in November 2024 if, as seems increasingly likely, Biden loses.
