Dock Workers Turn Cold Shoulder on Kamala Harris in Election Push

President Joe Biden seems intent on allowing dock workers to dominate the port scenario like it’s an episode of “Survivor: America’s Economy Edition.” Yet, in a twist that surely has the Democratic strategy team scratching their heads, not all longshoremen are ready to throw in their votes for Vice President Kamala Harris come November. Apparently, the union members are sending a strong message, one that says quite clearly: “Thanks, but no thanks” to Harris.

During a recent visit to a bustling New Jersey port, a Fox Business correspondent posed the obvious question to a crowd of dock workers—who they were planning to vote for. A deafening silence met this inquiry, with no hands raised and no casual nods of approval. It was a moment that surely had viewers at home chuckling in disbelief as the studio folks leaned in for commentary on this unexpected snub. Eventually, a dock worker chimed in, declaring just how private their voting intentions were, affirming that union support is nobody’s business. It’s hard to imagine a clearer rejection of Harris’s charm campaign than that.

Meanwhile, economists are preparing for a potential bleak holiday season, predicting that the current labor unrest will lead to product shortages that could leave retail shelves looking emptier than a Biden rally. Biden has decided to give the International Longshoremen’s Association the freedom to do as they please, all while ignoring the Taft-Hartley Act from 1974 which allegedly gives him the power to rein in this strike. Instead, Biden has opted for the “I don’t believe in that law” strategy, siding with the unions over the average American family. Nothing screams “protect the hard-working American” quite like watching supply chains implode, after all.

The refusal by dock workers to endorse Harris only underlines the irony—while they are striking and being granted liberties to stop commerce indefinitely, their confidence in the Vice President is decidedly low. Despite the silence and reluctance to support her, she continues to preach her gospel of empowerment to the working man, waving the flag of fairness and equity like she is the conductor of a union train. Harris claims that record profits from foreign-owned shipping are unjustly lining the pockets of executives while the dock workers labor away. However, one has to wonder how appealing arguments for fairness sound when the very individuals she seeks to charm can’t muster even a single supportive gesture.

Harris also took the liberty to jab at Trump, alleging he wants to turn back the clock on workers’ rights. Apparently, her strategy is to transform worker resentment towards Trump into support for her cause, even as her own base gives her the silent treatment. With half-abandoned pro-labor rallies and a dwindling chance of capturing the dock workers’ support, it’s evident that Harris has her work cut out for her. If her own party’s blue-collar backbone won’t stand behind her, she may need to revise her game plan more vigorously than Biden attempts to check his watch during prestigious events.
