DOJ Prepared for Deadly Force in Trump Raid, Documents Show

A recent report has revealed that the Justice Department under President Joe Biden was prepared to use “deadly force” during the FBI raid of former President Donald Trump’s south Florida club and home in August 2022. The documents obtained imply that agents were authorized to use firearms at the Palm Beach Mar-a-Lago club and had medical personnel on standby.

The raid, which took place on Aug. 8, 2022, was part of the federal government’s classified documents investigation. Despite the DOJ’s readiness to use deadly force, no shots were actually fired during the operation. However, the documents suggest that the DOJ was prepared for a potentially hostile situation at Mar-a-Lago.

Julie Kelly with RealClear Investigations shared unsealed documents detailing the instructions given to agents before the raid. The documents indicated that law enforcement officers were authorized to use deadly force when necessary. Additionally, agents were instructed to bring standard issue weapons, ammunition, handcuffs, and tools for forced entry, while maintaining a low-profile appearance.

In the event that Trump or his Secret Service detail posed a threat, agents were prepared to engage. The documents also revealed the presence of medics on-site and plans for handling any potential injuries, emphasizing the calculated drive time to the nearest hospital.

The documents were reportedly unsealed by Judge Aileen Cannon, who is presiding over the classified documents case against the former president. House Republicans have taken note of Kelly’s reporting, but the authenticity of the documents has not been independently verified.

The potential use of deadly force during the raid has raised concerns and sparked discussions about the operation’s justification and the level of preparedness for a confrontation.
